What is the Catchment Collective?

Launched in summer 2025, the Leven Catchment Collective brings together farmers, land managers, and community groups to support a future where thriving ecosystems, community wellbeing, and resilient businesses go hand in hand.

At the heart of the Collective are two member-led networks: the Farmer Network and the Community Network. Through these networks, we provide one-to-one support and advice, peer-to-peer learning, and enable collaborative action. The networks are member-led, and the support, initiatives and learning opportunities that emerge are shaped by the interests, ideas and needs of the people involved.

We believe that lasting change happens when local people are supported to lead it. By bringing people together, sharing knowledge and building connections, the Collective aims to strengthen local stewardship and enable practical action.

The Leven Catchment Collective is currently facilitated by Forth Rivers Trust, with the long-term ambition of becoming a locally held and locally steered network that helps connect people, strengthen support, and unlock new opportunities for the catchment. Whether you are looking to get involved, connect with others, or simply learn more about the work happening across the Leven Catchment, we’d love to hear from you.

Current Network Initiatives

The following three collaborative initiatives have emerged directly from the interests, ideas and needs shared by members across the Farmer and Community Networks. Learn more about them below.

From June into the beginnings of the autumn, we are engaging diverse communities across the catchment to begin growing a local culture of nature connectedness, belonging and stewardship to the catchment.

Following an initial soil health event, farmers expressed interest in practical support to tackle on-farm challenges such as flooding, compaction, poor infiltration and more. We are offering free one-to-one advice with Niels Corfield to help identify underlying causes of these issues and explore practical solutions.

A group of local farmers meeting monthly or every other month on-farm to discuss grazing-related challenges, ideas and opportunities. As the group develops, there will be opportunities to bring in guest speakers, explore equipment loan schemes and support practical trials of different grazing approaches.

To explore the wider advice, support and opportunities available through the Collective, visit the Farmer Network and Community Network pages. If there is something you would like to see, learn about or work on, get in touch.
