  • Are you dealing with land lying wet through bad winters, or drying out too quickly in dry spells?
  • Do you experience crop losses during prolonged wet periods?
  • Have you had to re-drill fields due to weather-related failures?
  • Are you experiencing poaching?
  • Do you struggle with burning-off, or grass growth dropping away mid-season?
  • Do you want to grow more grass with less fertiliser?
  • Would you like to reduce input costs?
  • Are you worried about farm incomes?

Or is there something else on the farm that you’re grappling with where some practical advice could help?

We are offering free on-farm advice with Niels Corfield to help explore the issues you are facing, understand whether soil health may be playing a part, and identify practical ways to improve them.

This could involve looking at things like compaction, drainage, soil structure, gross margin, fertiliser usage, water movement, rooting depth or other factors, depending on what is relevant to your farm and your system.

This opportunity follows strong interest from farmers who attended the soil health event in May, where several asked about follow-up farm visits with Niels. We’re now opening this up to other farmers in the Leven Catchment who may also be interested.

What’s involved?

The support is designed to be practical and tailored to your farm, and can include:

  • A short initial phone call with Niels to understand your farm and what you’d like to focus on
  • A half-day on-farm advisory visit
  • Follow-up support and discussion after the visit
  • (Optional) Informal pub meet-up one evening to talk through soil health basics, which may help free up more time on the farm visit for practical discussion

How will it work?

The advisory visits are currently planned for the w/c 19th October, as this is when most of the farmers already interested are available. You can view the available slots and book a visit using the button below.
