Fertiliser Inputs: Benefits and Drawbacks of Different Types
Wed 15 Apr 2026 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Kilrie Farm, KY2 5UW
Event Info
Rising fertiliser prices, a wide range of options, and the need to make every application count make it as important as ever to discuss the pros and cons of different fertiliser types. Join us for a hands-on day at Kilrie Farm to explore fertiliser inputs and their benefits and drawbacks, and the practical considerations they raise for farm systems.
In the morning, Agronomist Zach Reilly (Grounded Agronomy) will introduce key soil health principles that shape and influence fertiliser strategies. He will then provide an overview of different fertiliser types – from your usual suspects to the newer players in the field such as biostimulants – with a chance to discuss the benefits and limitations of each.
In the afternoon, we will continue the discussion outdoors with a farm walk led by Assistant Farm Manager Alfie Comber. We will explore how Kilrie Farm considers different fertiliser inputs, including how green manures are being used to influence fertiliser applications and planning across the farm.
While the focus is on arable and mixed farms, livestock-only farmers are very welcome to attend.
