What is the Catchment Collective?

Launched in 2025, the Leven Catchment Collective brings together farmers, land managers, and community groups to support a future where thriving ecosystems, community wellbeing, and resilient businesses go hand in hand.

By supporting the ideas, knowledge- and capacity-needs of those taking - or wanting to take action – in the Leven Catchment we hope the Collective can grow as a truly community-led initiative which is shaped by and for the people, places, and natural systems of the area.

Local stewardship lies at the heart of healthy catchments where land, water and communities thrive together.

This is true in the Leven Catchment, where a patchwork of individuals, groups and projects are already making a difference, and where there is strong energy and enthusiasm for more.

Even with all its promises, local stewardship does not come without its challenges. Limited resources, financial difficulties, stretched capacity, diverse interests, and the ongoing need to make a living from the land can leave people in places feeling short on time and support.

Currently facilitated by Forth Rivers Trust, we hope the Leven Catchment Collective can become a connecting force, held and steered locally, that helps plug the gaps, strengthen support, and further catalyse local stewardship across the catchment.
